Kingdom Responsibility and Reward – a Call for Every Generation

“As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance.” – Daniel 12:13

One of the key factors that drive our decision making is our view of the future.  Whether it is finances, education, relationships, or career development, we make decisions in these areas based on our belief of the future.

Daniel had one of the most vivid revelations of the future – the period of transition from the world’s kingdoms to Christ’s Millennial Kingdom.  With this revelation, Daniel seemed quite anxious in wanting to understand what he must do to prepare for it.  As a person of authority, Daniel wanted to know how these astounding events of political turmoil related to his kingdom responsibility.  God’s messenger then gave him an incredible answer by saying, “As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance.”

God’s message to Daniel is a clear directive of Kingdom responsibility and reward.  Even though many of God’s children will not live to participate in the transition period into Christ’s Millennial Kingdom, God still expects them to prepare for that Kingdom until they “rest”.  God has an accounting system that transcends the ages and generations.  A day will come when they rise and receive the return on their Kingdom investment (Matthew 25:11-23).

As market place Christians, this picture of the future speaks clearly of our responsibilities to steward our assets to prepare for the Master’s return.  For this week, let’s intercede that God will bring forth this message through us with power and authority.  Next week, we will continue with the introduction of Kingdom company leaders who are stewarding their assets to prepare for our King’s return.

Genesis 128 Agenda

“ God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” – Genesis 1:28

Genesis 1:28 expresses a practical directive for creation to fulfill Christ’s Kingdom agenda of connecting heaven and earth.  This divine directive in Eden, which I call the Genesis 128 Agenda, speaks of Christ’s original intent to expand value creation in the physical realm under His heavenly governance, increasing in scales from Adam and Eve to large networks of people – or kingdoms.

Even though today’s kingdoms reject Christ’s governance, His original intent has not changed.  When Christ returns, He will take over the world’s kingdoms (Revelation 11:15), which includes the value creation engines of their market places.  Isaiah 9:7 says that Christ’s zeal will drive the eternal expansion of His governance, established on David’s earthly throne.  In other words, the Genesis 128 Agenda will continue into eternity in the connection of heaven and earth.

As Christians laboring in the “Babylon market place”, we still have a responsibility in the Genesis 128 Agenda.  We have the responsibility to develop our market place capabilities and build the assets so that God’s people can prepare to “come out of Babylon” in its collapse (Revelation 18).  Therefore, building the value creation engines of a Kingdom economy is a basic assignment of every market place Christian, especially business leaders and entrepreneurs.

In this call, we cannot neglect excellence in market place value creation by thinking that they are earthly and therefore, not important to Christ.  To the contrary, we must see our market place roles as opportunities to prepare for Christ’s Millennial Kingdom and our roles as its rulers.  Christ’s Genesis 128 Agenda will persist into the “new heaven and new earth” and our market place assignments today will prepare us for that greater eternal role.

Please intercede with us that the Holy Spirit will speak through us with authority as we bring this message to the “10,000”

Next week, we will address the question: if Christ returns after my lifetime, how will what I labor for in the market place count towards His Kingdom?

The connection between heaven and earth

“Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” – Matthew 6:10

“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”  – Matthew 16:19

“Then Jesus came to them and said, ’All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.’” – Matthew 28:18

“And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment—to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.” – Ephesians 1:9-10

For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. – Colossians 1:19-20

What is a common theme that weaves through all these verses?  All of them speak of an essential element in God’s Kingdom agenda: the connection between heaven and earth.  Grasping this principle will help us to properly steward our market place assets, whether it’s our finances, career, or enterprise.

Revelation 11:15 says that Christ will take over the world’s kingdoms when He returns.  In other words, when Christ returns with His heavenly armada, He is not going to “burn” the earth and its physical assets.  But rather, He will apportion to us responsibilities over Kingdom assets according to our faithfulness (Luke 19:11-27, Revelation 3:21, 5:10).  Christ’s agenda is to bring His heavenly governance into our stewardship over His earthly Kingdom – bringing together heaven and earth under one head.

Grasping this perspective makes a night and day difference in the way we steward our careers and enterprises for Christ’s Kingdom agenda.  We will share more on this next week.

Testing and Preparation – Keys to Realizing God’s Power

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

It has been a very full week pastoring the market place in Taiwan so I will break from sharing a message this week.  During the past 7 days, I have ministered to a company’s top management team (most of whom are not yet Christian), led a dedication service for a media company’s 10,000 ping (8.2 acre) property on which they plan to build a 50 story high rise, ministered at several market place fellowships, anointed the office of a software company for God’s Kingdom purposes, attended a court hearing for a key market place brother, attended a funeral, counseled a newly wed couple, had an interview with a Christian media group, and made numerous market place connections for the Kingdom network.

God’s heart is over the market place of Taiwan and we certainly have much to be joyful, prayerful, and thankful for.  Let’s spend this week lifting up our hearts as an intercession fellowship with 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.  Please join us.
