Reflection on MTC 2012

The Holy Spirit astounded us once again at MTC 2012.  From our early morning prayer to the workshops to evening ministry sessions, God exceeded our expectations and confirmed to us that His heart is over the work of our hands.  God has a zeal for His Bride and Wife, the joy set before Him and we certainly felt the “flow” of that zeal.  We thank many of you for your prayer and promotional support.

Please listen to the audio recording below for a reflection of MTC2012 by Pastor Joseph Tai, Mrs. Tai, and a few other coworkers.  Towards the latter half of the recording, I also provided a brief overview of next year’s theme, which we will introduce next week through this GPC note.

For your reference, we have provided below a summary of the messages on “Activating Kingdom DNA – the 5 Aspects”.  This series took us through the summer and flowed powerfully into our heart preparation for MTC.  We hope that these messages will help you gain greater clarity in your God given destiny.

Audio Message

The LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. – Genesis 2:7

As we head into MTC 2012, “The Joy Set Before Jesus”, we set our hearts to receive from the Lord a breath of life.  Just as God breathed into the nostrils of man, transforming him from a mere “reformation of dust” to a living being with a purpose in Kingdom destiny, we ask the Lord to breathe into us the same breath of life.  For God has in store for this MTC gathering a breath of life that will elevate the purpose of our daily endeavors in the workplace – transforming us with a fresh vision of our roles as Christ’s “Bride and Wife”, His Holy City, the joy set before Him.

Builders of the Storehouse

Audio Message

Joseph was thirty years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from Pharaoh’s presence and traveled throughout Egypt.  During the seven years of abundance the land produced plentifully.  Joseph collected all the food produced in those seven years of abundance in Egypt and stored it in the cities. In each city he put the food grown in the fields surrounding it.  Joseph stored up huge quantities of grain, like the sand of the sea; it was so much that he stopped keeping records because it was beyond measure.  – Genesis 41:46-49

Hurricane Sandy and the recent U.S. election have served to remind us once again that only in God alone do we trust.

As of today, New York City, one of the most advanced city infrastructures in the world, is still rationing gas – this nation is under anxiety.  President Obama won reelection by a margin of less than 2.3% of the popular vote – this nation is under tension.  The awesome news is that anxiety and tension are God’s “fuel” for turning people’s hearts to Him.  God is in control and if we flow with His Kingdom agenda today, we will come to bear some of the greatest witness for Christ.

The Lord’s Kingdom agenda today may mirror the events from the days of Joseph in Egypt, when God brought about an economic anxiety that ultimately served to establish the seed for His treasured possession – the nation of Israel.  This seed was preserved because Joseph prepared the storehouses to face the coming famine that turned the people’s hearts to God’s agenda.  In the same way, God is preparing the “Josephs” of this age to build the “storehouses” to face the coming times of economic anxiety and political tension, so that people’s hearts will turn to God.

The “storehouses” of this age will not just be grain elevators, but will manifest as a Kingdom economy – a network of people and companies governed under the lordship of Jesus Christ.  The most important asset of this “store house” will be the people and their ability to work together to serve a world running to them because of economic anxiety and political tension.  God’s call for us to raise up “10,000 market place soldiers” and “500 governing leaders” is a call to the “Josephs” to build the “storehouse”.

We believe that God will bring to the church a coming time of unprecedented abundance.  In preparation, God has called us to build the “storehouses” to contain this abundance, coming perhaps in the form of land, factories, tools, natural resources, technologies, and most importantly, people’s ideas and capabilities.

MTC has persisted for 18 years because of the call to prepare the heart, mind, and soul of the “storehouse” builders.  Although this conference may serve many through its seasoned prayer teams, music ministry, and excellent programs, the Spirit’s presence manifests because the conference flows with His Kingdom agenda, flows with the call to build the “storehouses”.

We invite you to become part of this flow with the “10,000” and the “500” – with those who seek to see in their careers, their “storehouse” calling.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. – Hebrews 12:2

In the course of developing the MTC 2012 theme, Pastor Li-En Tai came up with an insightful framework that well encapsulates the message of “The Joy Set Before Jesus”.  The 3 components of this framework are:  The Call, The Cross, and The City.

The model that Jesus demonstrated in Hebrews 12:2 shows us that the Father gave Jesus the “Call” to kingdom authority – the place at the right hand of His throne.  This authority is to be fully manifested in the “City”, the New Jerusalem – the Bride and Wife of the Lamb (Revelation 21:9-10) – the joy set before Him.  For Christ to fulfill this “Call” of kingdom authority in the “City”, He must go through the path of the “Cross”.

In the same way, Jesus expects us to also follow our “Cross” as the path that links our “Call” and our kingdom authority of the “City”.  So in anticipation of MTC 2012, where the powerful worship environment brings to our hearts a keen sensitivity to the Spirit’s revelation concerning our “Call” and “City”, we have prepared six blog entries beginning from September that delved into the wonders of the “Cross” – the beauty in its contradictions and the wisdom in its simplicity.

For many of us going through the “Cross” in our families, the workplace, and the church, we expect MTC 2012 to be a time when God speaks into our “Call” and shows us a clearer picture of the “City” – the joy that compels us to the road of the cross, to greater kingdom authority.
