Attitude of Grave, Altitude of Heaven

I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.  And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. – Ephesians 1:18-23

Many may have heard of the adage that “attitude determines altitude”.  God’s call for us, as His Kingdom stewards, is to heaven’s altitude.  But reaching that requires a completely counterintuitive attitude.  That is, reaching heaven’s altitude requires an attitude that heads to the grave.

Ephesians 1 says that God has called us to operate in power that manifests heaven’s altitude.  That is the power of resurrecting the dead, the authority we have over death.  More often than not, God prepares us to experience and steward such power by taking us to the fish’s belly, through the path of the grave.  For us to be resurrected, we must first experience death.

When God puts us into the fish’s belly, He seeks from us an attitude transformation.  The fish is our opportunity to work through our heart’s fear and resentment – coming to terms with dying to ourselves in the confidence that we will be resurrected.  When we know that the power of resurrection awaits at the end, how will that shape our attitudes towards confronting scarcity, failure, injustice, broken promises, missed expectations, financial distress, betrayal, personal offenses, and attacks on our reputation?  God expects us, as He had with Jonah, to take to the grave those manifestations of fear and resentment.  Let us not fight against death by trying to mitigate our fears through control or to purge our resentments through revenge.  Let us confront our fears and resentments by walking them to the grave in the expectations of God’s resurrection power, in the assurance that death will shape us into vessels vested with greater capacity to contain His capacity.

As the world’s value system promotes the attitude of dominance and control to gain altitude in recognition and respect, God is raising up a generation of market place soldiers who can gain the altitude of heaven through the attitude of the grave.  Our most powerful testimonies will come from walking in the expectation of the resurrection and leveraging the power of death as a tool, as a means to Kingdom authority.

God expects us to experience resurrection power.  Let’s make ourselves available and walk to heaven through the grave!

Transformed in the Fish

The engulfing waters threatened me, the deep surrounded me; seaweed was wrapped around my head. To the roots of the mountains I sank down; the earth beneath barred me in forever. But you brought my life up from the pit, O LORD my God. When my life was ebbing away, I remembered you, LORD, and my prayer rose to you, to your holy temple.  Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs.  But I, with a song of thanksgiving, will sacrifice to you.  What I have vowed I will make good. Salvation comes from the LORD. – Jonah 2:5-9

Sensing that the Lord is taking us through a significant transition season, I have recently decided to scale back on the weekly message blog to quiet my spirit in seeking God’s heart.  Here are some “sceneries” of this journey that I would like to share with you.

God’s preparation of our hearts to steward influence and wealth is about change – reorienting what we think is reasonable and desirable and aligning to what God wants.  Because of people’s “stiffed-necked” nature, the change process that God takes us through can often seem painful, chaotic, and contradictory.

Recently, the Holy Spirit reminded me of Jonah’s case – truly the epitome of “extreme heart transformation”.  In an odd way, it brought me encouragement by the assurance that:  when God cares enough to get our attention and compliance, He will shake us out from our bounds of logic, justice, and sensibility.  He will take us to a place where we will not only clearly understand His heart, but will also be ready to change our hearts.

Being trapped in a fish’s stomach must be one of most horrid experiences – hanging somewhere between life and death, completely blind, swaying like a crazy roller coaster, staring at the face of a painful and slow death.  Is this how we perceive our situation today as we go through the “change process”?  God’s ways are always sensible.  But to perceive it requires a faith to see His heart’s greater picture and a willingness to step out from our bounds of logic, justice, and sensibility.  Only then will the beauty of God’s wisdom and mercy become visible.

The fish experience may be frightening.  But in reality, it is God’s salvation that saved Jonah from drowning.  It is God’s condition that opened Jonah’s eyes and compelled him to “make good his vow”.  It is God’s provision that transported Jonah to his intended destination, all expenses paid!

God’s way operated completely outside of Jonah’s logic and sensibility.  Can we relate to that?  How many of us are in a “fish” today – feeling blind, disoriented, out of control, while seeing our resources ebb away?  In many aspects of my Kingdom assignment, I can relate to that.  My encouragement to you, from one sojourner to another, is: everything will be and must be OK.  The “fish” is the way of God.  Just sit tight and wait for it to spit you out.  When that happens, you know that you have been elevated to a new level of Kingdom authority!

God bless – as we ride the “fish” together.

Always Achieve a Greater Purpose

But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.  – John 4:14

For the past few weeks, we have been in Asia serving Tony Wear, a men’s apparel fashion company, by helping them develop the “River of Life” Core Value into a 5-year brand vision.  In scripture, the “River of Life” restores us to our destinies and elevates our lives to a greater purpose.  From this idea, we establish the brand statement: “Always Achieve a Greater Purpose”, which proclaims an elevation of character and leadership quality for the men of China as the nation rises in global influence.  This statement also embodies the Core Value of which all the product, brand, and company culture development will flow from for the next 5 years.  Please click here to hear more on this message.

The following is a summary of the 6 messages God gave to us for 2013 as we ministered with key leaders in China on 12/12/12.

  1. God will be doing a new thing such that we must be of a pure heart and simple faith to see (Message)
  2. God will reveal to us new insights in what it means to inherit the earth, opening our eyes to His heart for heaven-earth connection (Message 1, Message 2)
  3. God will breathe into the church a new life that will awaken us to our Kingdom destiny (Message)
  4. God will bring an unprecedented increase of the shepherd’s anointing in wisdom, restoration, and abundance (Message)
  5. God’s release of Kingdom authority will demand us to offer up our “Isaacs”, putting to death our ambition (Message)
  6. God will raise the church to a level of worship expression beyond that of the Israelites by the Red Sea (Message)

Market Place Meditation and Prayer

Lord, may you raise up a generation of storehouse builders who flows in the “River of Life”.

Worship – Turning the Key of Hope

Audio Message

When Pharaoh’s horses, chariots and horsemen went into the sea, the LORD brought the waters of the sea back over them, but the Israelites walked through the sea on dry ground.  Then Miriam the prophetess, Aaron’s sister, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women followed her, with tambourines and dancing.  Miriam sang to them: “Sing to the LORD, for he is highly exalted. The horse and its rider he has hurled into the sea.” – Exodus 15:19-21

This week wraps up the last of the 6 messages God gave us in China on 12/12/12:

  • God will raise the church to a level of worship expression beyond that of the Israelites by the Red Sea – Exodus 15:1-21.

By elevating our worship expression, God will impart to the church one of the greatest heavenly Kingdom keys to influence the world’s market place.  This is the key of hope.

Hope is one of the most powerful forces that drives our market place.  It can propagate goodwill and collaboration among people, companies, and nations.  It instills confidence and drives economic growth and the vibrancy of financial markets.  Hope is a basic sustenance of kingdom existence and prosperity.  Hope is the “joy set before us” that give us strength and resolve to overcome seemingly insurmountable hardships, to invest in the midst uncertainty, to traverse the road of the cross.

Our worship expression is the pathway that takes our hearts to the place of joy, where we turn the Kingdom key of hope.  The greater the worship, the greater we realize strength from hope.  In the coming great harvest, we believe that God will draw the world’s market places to the church, a city (or market place) on the hill, by our worship expression – worship that imparts true hope and its unrelenting strength.  The world’s economic and political systems are heading towards a great tribulation.  In that, God is setting a stage for the church to demonstrate His Kingdom on earth, by turning the key of hope to sustain the nations.  Hope of this magnitude must come from worship expressions that surpass even the 2 million by the Red Sea.

The Holy Spirit has elevated church’s worship expression in great strides during the past 30 years.  These are all preparation for a coming season when God’s manifestation will inspire us to create songs with unfathomable lyrics like, “the horse and its rider He has hurled into the sea”.  These songs, in turn, will propel our hope, bringing strength and faith to stand in the place of God against our enemies, just as Jehoshaphat led his nation to defeat Moab and Ammon in 2 Chronicles 20.

Worship leaders of the market place, RISE UP!!

Market Place Meditation and Prayer

A person who can impart hope have great influence.  In what ways can you impart hope to your family, workplace, and church fellowship through your worship expression?

Lord, let us become a person who can lead by imparting hope to others.  May that hope flow from a worship expression where we see You “hurl the horse and its rider into the sea”.  May our worship expression become our testimony that brings authority.
