Joy – Key to Effective Leadership

This Week’s Audio Message

“ If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.” – Philippians 2:1-2

During last week’s message, we mentioned that the key components of joy, as pointed out by Paul to the Philippians, are unity in our Kingdom purpose and loving one another in Christ’s abundant capacity.

In continuing to seek wisdom in this passage, I like to highlight a key concept of joy from the phrase “…make my joy complete…”  This word “complete” (Greek – plaroo) means to fulfill, to make a vision come to pass, or to transform an idea into reality.  From this understanding, we expound on Paul’s message here as saying, “My joy is seeing an awesome vision of you manifesting Kingdom power and witness.  Now complete my joy by making that vision real.  You can do it by being like-minded and loving one another because of your abundant capacity in Christ.”

Understanding this concept of joy reveals some important insights in leading and motivating others, whether in our families, fellowships, or business spheres.  To effectively lead people to complete a challenging goal, we must:

  1. Bring about joy – a future vision of accomplishment, satisfaction, happiness;
  2. Establish team unity – right heart, right position, right goal;
  3. Help team members see their “love capacity” – grace, sacrifice, and building others up.

Market Place Prayer

May the Lord breathe joy into the hearts of His market place leaders today, such that they can motivate their teams through a divine vision of accomplishment, satisfaction, and happiness.  May the Lord impart wisdom to fulfill that joy through team unity and love capacity.
