A Psalmist View of Kingdom DNA

This Week’s Audio Message

My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.  When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body.  All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. – Psalm 139:15-16

Moving on from last week’s sharing on “insertion point”, we come to the third of the 5 aspects of activating Kingdom DNA:  “speaking prophetic messages of the destinies of individuals and organizations”.  Delving into the topic of destiny, God’s Kingdom desire for us, provides an excellent backdrop to ponder on “what is Kingdom DNA?”.

As God created the world, He encoded a “DNA” into creation that gives it the ability and natural propensity to “be fruitful and multiply”.  We term this “Kingdom DNA” because of its design to compel all creation to fulfill Christ Kingdom passion – the Genesis 1:28 Agenda.

Furthermore, Psalm 139:15-16 eloquently encapsulates the idea of Kingdom DNA for us as individuals.  It speaks of God weaving us together and seeing our bodies even before they are formed.  Perhaps the psalmist, even without understanding the science behind DNA, has described how God “coded” the weaving of our DNA strands.  Verse 16 transposed this idea of “coding” another step further – from our “bodies” to “the days ordained for us”.  As God has “ordained”, through physical DNA, our bodily features, emotions, intelligence, and talents, He has also encoded into His “book” our purpose and significance in His Kingdom vision, even before we breathed our first breath.  Our Kingdom DNA, which includes our physical DNA, contains God’s code of our purpose and significance in His 1:28 Agenda.  Our Kingdom DNA tells the story of our destiny, even before one of those days came to be.

As we shared a few weeks back, sin has inhibited our Kingdom DNA, corrupting our function in the 1:28 Agenda.  Christ’s sacrifice opened the door for us to reverse that trend.  One of the keys to that reversal, to activating our Kingdom DNA, is to speak forth the authority of the prophetic message of our destiny, the heart of God encoded in our Kingdom DNA – just as Ezekiel spoke life to the dry bones (Ezekiel 37) and Jesus spoke living water to the Samaritan woman (John 4).

Market Place Meditation and Prayer

  1. What is the destiny God encoded into my Kingdom DNA?  How is that DNA being expressed today?
  2. What is the destiny of my family, my church, my community, my company, my sphere of influence…?

Lord, open our eyes, as you opened Ezekiel’s eyes, to equip us as agents of destiny, to proclaim the life of Kingdom DNA into places of death, to speak living water to the dried & parched land of our market places.

Preachers of Beautiful Feet

This Week’s Audio Message

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” – Romans 10:14-15

Last week, in talking about a market place pastor’s role to “activate Kingdom DNA”, we delve into the topic of ”washing the people, company, and their processes through God’s word”.  The key insight in this principle, especially in the work place context, is finding the appropriate “insertion point” to bring in God’s word.  While the church fellowship’s model of worship and teaching works well in that setting, this model often encounters a difficult fit in the work place.  Like how orbital reentry needs to be done at the right angle and timing, we need to seek God’s revelation for the right “angle” and “timing” so that when we “preach” God’s truth, we are received as people of “beautiful feet who bring good news”.

God wants to send messengers who walk with “beautiful feet”, preachers that know how to walk through the right “insertion point” and preach the message that the recipients would deem as beautiful “good news”.  God has established an insertion point in every situation that we must partner with Him to identify.  In the context of the work place, the insertion point may be a certain department, project, theme for process improvement, or initiatives for elevating brand value.

At Tony Wear, the Spirit has led us to “insert” His truth through the seasonal product theme that drives their brand identity.  The “preaching” is not just an adjunct activity that compete for company resources.  But God’s word has been injected into the core of the product development process and has become a key factor in determining the market appeal of the apparel collection.  Through this initial injection of God’s truth at the right insertion point, we expect that over the course of several product seasonal cycles, the “washing” of God’s word will steadily expand to other parts of the company operation – transforming the company culture as its Kingdom DNA becomes activated.

Market Place Meditation and Prayer

  1. What are the “doors” I can open in my market place sphere of influence to bring in the “washing” with God’s word?
  2. What are the biblical themes I can connect to the various aspects of my company’s business processes?

Lord, in your desire to see us become market place preachers with beautiful feet, we ask that you grant us greater insights for identifying the “insertion points” for your good news.

Washing Through God’s Word

This Week’s Audio Message

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. – Ephesians 5:25-27

Several weeks ago, we began a series on the 5 aspects of “activating Kingdom DNA” – striving to understand the role of today’s market place pastors.  These aspects are:

  1. Operating in the “faith of the mustard seed”;
  2. “Washing” the people, company, and their processes through God’s word;
  3. Prophetic messages speaking into the destinies of individuals and organizations;
  4. Exercising our market place competencies in the Spirit’s power, thus providing clear benefits to the company’s business operations;
  5. Overcoming doubt and pride, key elements that separated God from Adam and Eve, and have inhibited our Kingdom DNA.

We concluded last week on the 1st aspect, “Operating in the ‘faith of the mustard seed’”, by seeing Christ model this principle for us when he saw the “tree” of the New Jerusalem through our Kingdom DNA in the “mustard seed”.  That joy, that vision of His “Bride and Wife”, pressed Him forward to the road of the cross.  In the same way, by seeing the potential of the Kingdom DNA in our realm of influence, this vision of joy will establish our resolve to take the road of the cross – a necessary path of sacrifice to see the activation of Kingdom DNA (Luke 9:23-27).

This week, we move onto the 2nd aspect:  “Washing the people, company, and their processes through God’s word”.  Simply put, this is to carry out the desire of Christ in Ephesians 5:25-27 – to cleanse, renew, and realign people to their Kingdom destinies by immersion in the truth of God’s word.  People’s Kingdom DNA will activate in accordance to the level of their hearts’ and minds’ alignment to their Kingdom destiny.  The more we come inline with our Kingdom destiny, the greater the activation of our potential (1 Corinthians 2:9).

At Tony Wear, we immersed the truth of God’s word into the organization through the theme of their product brand.  Because Donald Wu, the CEO, has established the 2013 product brand theme as the “River of Water of Life”, he opened the door for God’s word to “wash” through the core of Tony Wear’s organization and business processes.  Our initial step was to develop a Thematic Inspiration Book that provides the design team biblical insights into the “River of Water of Life”.  It also brings a unified direction on design interpretation, affecting all aspects of garment style, store aesthetic, marketing messages, website, catalog, and promotional campaigns.

The following is an excerpt from the Thematic Inspiration Book that may provide a flavor of how the truth of God’s word is immersed into the hearts and minds of the design team:

“Life is governed by a complex web of “flows” – convoluted, interactive, organic, and dynamic.  Cities light up with energy flow.  Decisions and agreements are reached through information flow.  Wealth creation happens with money flow.  Art and innovation are discovered when creativity flow.  People are served with product flow.  Friends are made and partnerships developed in people flow.  Great novels are strung together through word flow.  Peace prospers when goodwill flows.  Civilizations and culture are established around rivers – channels of water flow.  Life is sustained in blood flow.  Hope and salvation also came when Christ’s blood flowed.

Where there is life, there is flow.  Without flow, life ceases.

An ancient Book of Wisdom, the Bible, also speaks of a “flow” – a force, a movement of water, the living water, originating from our Creator called “The River of Life”.  This is the flow that sustains all life and its surrounding web of “flows”.  The Book tells us that this flow carries authority and brings change that all other “flows” of life must submit to.  The water that flows from the River of Life also brings healing, cleansing, and sustenance for individuals as well as for societies.  When we connect to this flow, we also forever quench that thirst innate in all people – the thirst for purpose and self-significance.  We come to know our created purpose and become elevated in authority and capability to fulfill that.  We, in turn, become a conduit for that Living Water.”

Next week, we will recount a bit of our experiences in delivering this Thematic Inspiration Book to Tony Wear’s design team.  We will share on how that training and individual ministry activated a start in the expression of Tony Wear’s Kingdom DNA – the transformation of the company culture to reflect the New Jerusalem.

Market Place Meditation and Prayer

  1. What are the “doors” I can open in my market place sphere of influence to bring in the “washing” with God’s word?
  2. What biblical themes I can connect to the various aspects of my company’s business processes?

Lord, open our eyes to your passion and zeal to “cleanse and wash” Your people into a spotless and radiant Bride.  Grant us a deeper understanding of your Bride and Wife, the New Jerusalem, your ultimate desire in market place expression.

Jesus Seeing the Tree in the Seed

This Week’s Audio Message

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.  – Hebrews 12:2

We shared last week that “operating in the ‘faith of the mustard seed’” is to see the potential of Kingdom DNA, to see the vision of the tree behind the mustard seed.  Jesus also modeled for us this principle.

Hebrews 12:2 says that by the joy set before Him, Jesus endured the cross.  This incredible joy, powerful enough to motivate Jesus to take up His cross, is the vision of His Bride and Wife – the New Jerusalem, the epicenter of His coming Kingdom and the dwelling place of the “Lord God Almighty and the Lamb”.  Even though the church today seems small and feeble, like a mustard seed, Jesus saw the “tree” through our Kingdom DNA.  This “tree” is the New Jerusalem, the glorious manifestation of the church.

Market Place Meditation and Prayer

  1. How can I see the Kingdom DNA in the “mustard seeds” of my work place, company, school, family, community, and church?
  2. In what ways can I manifest the “New Jerusalem” culture in my work place today?

Lord, please open our eyes to see our market place surroundings as Kingdom seeds for the New Jerusalem.  Help us to understand the New Jerusalem and become the testimonies of its culture.
