Love of the Husband, Love of Christ – Sacrifice

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.  – Ephesians 5:25

Pastor Li-En and I just returned from Asia last night.  This may have been one of our most encouraging trips as we saw the Lord’s amazing handiwork in preparing His market place leaders for perhaps the greatest harvest the Church has yet to see.

As we worked with market place leaders to bring about “Kingdom culture” into their companies, I am reminded once again of Christ’s love for His Bride, the ultimate expression of Kingdom culture.  In our travels, we have seen many challenges faced by Kingdom minded leaders in their companies and organizations.  I believe that the answers to these challenges lie in the love that defines Christ’s Kingdom culture.  This love that brought Christ’s Bride forgiveness, redemption, purification, elevation, and partnership, is the power that will eternally expand Christ’s Kingdom.  It is also the power that will solve many of today’s toughest market place problems.

To help us understand the “love for the Bride”, Paul reminds the husbands to love their wives as Christ sacrificed Himself for the Church.  In other words, by understanding a husband’s willingness to sacrifice for his wife, we can uncover the principles of Christ’s Kingdom culture, the secrets that can turn around families, companies, and entire economies.  Let’s continue our prayer from last week to understand the deep wisdom of the love of the family, of the love of sacrifice.

Market Place Prayer

We call upon the Lord in the promise of James 1:5 to impart to the 10,500 market place leaders a divine understanding of the love of a husband for his wife, the deep wisdom in sacrifice.  May these leaders witness to the world as restorers of families, companies, and economies through the love of the family, through the love of a husband committed to his wife.
